"I want to do things right": Michaël Youn rocked Nice at La Kermesse Festival... and he's doing it again in August in La Seyne-sur-Mer, we met him

As is often the case with him, it all started with a childish spirit. Fatal Bazooka, his Savoyard rapper character with hyperprotein biceps and gold bling hanging around his neck, like 50 Cent, Booba, and other pillars of the current charts, emerged in 2002.

Then the joke continued, the hits piled up, with the support of producer Tefa, while the "real" musicians got tangled up in one of the most delicate moments in the history of the music industry.

At the Théâtre de Verdure in Nice, Michaël Youn had enough to last long minutes on stage with Fous ta cagoule, Mauvaise foi nocturne (his parody of Confessions nocturnes by Diam's and Vitaa, produced with Pascal Obispo), Parle à ma main or even J'aime trop ton boule .

At 51, the regressive madness still makes this die-hard PSG fan laugh... And so do we, just like the 3,500 spectators who gave him a welcome worthy of a rock star, recently, for the last evening of La Kermesse (he will return to La Seyne on August 3 for the same festival).

We found him in his dressing room, sweating like Johnny in his prime, exhausted but delighted to have been able to dive into this bath of adrenaline.

We saw you looking very focused before going on stage. You have to be serious to really mess around?

I don't want to spread myself too thin, because I also know that it takes a lot of energy and I want to do things well. It's not about stress, but about concentration, yes. And then I can have fun. There, I had fun like rarely before!

Is there anything special about the French Riviera?

The Théâtre de Verdure is always a crazy date. Is it because I feel a bit at home [He studied business in Sophia Antipolis, editor's note] ? Is it because this arena is special? Is it because it's summer and the people are warm? Or simply because we get along well, them and I? I don't know...

An observation: unlike some "vintage" artists who run out of songs after one or two tracks, you have a lot of songs that people can sing by heart...

Yes, and it's not the same audience depending on the era. Parle à ma main [a duet with the singer Yelle] works hard with the younger female audience. Fous ta cagoule really appeals to boys, as does Ce matin va être une pure soirée . And Comme des connards (a parody of My Sharona , by The Knack, dating from 1979) appeals to older audiences.

A few days ago, you were at the first edition of Do You Comedy in Saint-Tropez, with your friends from Morning Live , Benjamin Morgaine and Vincent Desagnat. Do you sometimes miss this type of scene?

I'm not a big fan of one-man shows anymore. Multi-artist sets can make me laugh. This isn't a criticism of stand-up comedy, but when you do sets like tonight's, with a hysterical audience, and you can crack jokes between songs, why would you only do jokes? Music allows you to create moments of joy that are difficult to achieve with humor.

We'll see you at the cinema this Wednesday, July 16th with Kev Adams in Some Like It Bald ...

Yes, it's the story of a guy who's thirty. He loses his girlfriend, he loses his job, and suddenly, he loses his hair. I play his uncle. I'm there to be his partner, a bit like helping him enter into a hair resistance, I want him to fight for self-acceptance. My character is in denial. It's a light film, a summer film.

Fatal was released in theaters fifteen years ago. Is a sequel in the pipeline?

Yes, we are working on the script, it should be ready for 2026. Before that project, I hope, there will be the release of The Invisible Man [a comedy adaptation of the HG Wells novel, in which he is both directing and in front of the camera] .

Flashback , the TF1 drama where you play an old-school cop, was a great success, with an average audience of 3.5 million. Can we expect a second season?

Touch wood, but normally, yes. There's a chance that Elsa Le Tellier [Constance Gay's character, whose father he plays] will go back in time again.

You even won the Best Actor award for this role at the first Multi Screen Grand Prix...

The last time I won an award was the Gérard for worst actor, for Iznogoud (in 2006). I feel like I'm making progress, it's not bad.
